SkoMor Soccer Club – Technical Training – Winter 2012

The Winter Technical Training Sessions will take place on Friday nights 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Please see schedule below. All Technical Training Sessions are free of charge to current SkoMor SC Players. Any non-SkoMor SC Players may attend sessions for a fee of $25 per session. Please contact the DOC, Ethan C. Bontly, doc@skomorsoccer.com if interested in attending.

Overview: Each Technical training session will focus on specific elements of improving individual skills and learning of key fundamental skills in soccer. Topics will vary from week to week, depending on the turnout and progression. Players are encouraged to attend these free sessions as a supplement to team training so each player will improve during the off season months.

Planned Topics:

  • Attacking one-on-one with the ball: This will include learning and working on specific moves to beat a defender, moving to open space and winning the offensive position. Players will work on step-overs, inside/outside moves and body positioning.
  • Attacking 1v1, 2v1, 2v2: Working first by self, then with teammate to beat defender to goal scoring goals.
  • Striking the ball with accuracy: Shooting on Goal: This session included repetitive striking while squaring up the shoulders and ‘getting over the ball’ both with the shoulders and the knee. Players work on both kicking the ball with three parts of foot to the low right/left and straight on, and to the upper 90 of both the left and the right corners. Good Session for Goal Keepers to attend.
  • Defending one-on-one and one vs. two: Basic elements to contain an attacking player, winning the ball, defending to flick away ball/element the attack, and covering in support of your teammate (1 vs. 2).
  • Individual ball skills: This session will work on individual ball skills ranging from cutback, switches, step-overs, twists ect. Each player will play with a ‘Fusal’ (or size 3) ball to develop individual skills.
  • Small Side Games: Focus is on 3 vs 3 tournament style play.

Recap of the 2011 Camp:
The 2011 Camp was held at Niles North High School the first week of August. A total of 25 campers participated in the camp, either all the days or potions of the camp. The Camp Director, Donovan Kron was very happy with this high quality camp, which included individual instruction with coaches from several countries. The goal of the camp was to get players ready for the fall season, while improving each player’s individual skill and fitness level. Each camper also received a camp t-shirt and ball.
